A BIG BOW AND BEING A RELATABLE BLOGGER.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!

I have been wanting to do a post on this subject for quite some time now. It's something that I have given a lot of thought to and something that I strongly believe in as a blogger.
Being relatable.
I started my blog as an outlet for myself, my place, my space and my voice. It's something I will have to always look back at, remember things and see my life grow and myself grow. I like sharing everything from stories about family and friends to big events in my life, as well as experiences, travels, cooking, crafty things I'm learning and my style. I didn't plan on being a fashion blogger. I really don't even think of myself or blog as that. Like at all.
I have always liked clothes, always liked to shop and I don't think that will ever change. I'm not going to mention names of blogs but my very first favorite was a blog that I could relate to. This girl was a real ordinary girl who had great style and a great way of putting together pieces of clothing that worked. Not to mention she shared her journey of life and love and now a baby. She left me inspired. She wears normal clothes from places that I can go to and I can shop at, that is why I loved her blog. I have to admit there are some new blogs out there with beautiful girls behind them but honestly when I click on items they are wearing and they are like $130 for a top and $395 for shoes, it's just not realistic. It's not happening for me and I truly believe you can have great style without blowing that kind of money.
When I first started doing outfit posts I have to admit, it felt funny, standing there posting and hoping the pictures looked good. Not to mention people driving by or looking or thinking we were crazy. B and I that is, he's my professional photographer. ;)
Another thing that I had to accept is that not everyone would "get it" the blog thing and the outfits. I don't like attention and I don't like being looked at which is weird when I post outfit pictures. I'm not some self absorbed person who loves posting pictures of herself. My reason for this is to share style and ideas and good finds on clothes.
One of this biggest things I like about outfit posts are that they hold me accountable, accountable for putting together a cute outfit. Trying new things and pairing up items that have been in my closet for years. It has pushed me to try new things, like why not put this big purple bow headband on my head with a teal shirt and patterned leggings?!
Not only that, but maybe, just maybe someone will see this post and notice they might already have something similar in their own closet and it might give them an idea to try a similar outfit. Or even last week I posted a pink lace dress I found at H&M for $20, I want to share things with you guys so you can possibly go find that same dress for $20 at a store near you.
In my opinion, clothing is such a great way to express yourself, your mood and who you are. Getting up in the morning to do an outfit post makes me get ready and take care of myself, and honestly I feel better throughout the day because I feel good about my outfit and I think that comes through in your attitude all day.
My outfits are real and I want my readers to be able to relate and get ideas from my style. That's why I do it. I want to show people how I wear clothing from H&M, Target, Forever 21, Lulu's, ASOS, Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack, Old Navy, TJ MAXX etc. I also love finding small companies or girls trying to launch clothing or accessories via etsy, or online boutiques - it's fun to show new talent.

Thank you so much for reading and in the category of my style and my outfit posts, I hope you all feel like you can relate. If you ever have questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I live in AZ too! Born and raised in Phoenix. It's nice to read posts from someone who lives here too. Especially when it comes to fashion. I admittedly need help!

  5. I love this post! When I started blogging I vowed I'd never be a fashion blogger. Not because I didn't stalk fashion blogs all the time, because I did, but because I didn't consider myself the fashion blogger type. I felt like I should stick to inspirational/life lesson stuff. I have since broke the mold and decided how much I LOVE outfit posts.
And you are just so beautiful! Thanks for a great blog :)

  9. 100% relatable. I am completely the same. I can't follows blogs where it is ootd in designer ensambles 24/7. It's not realistic to me. It's not something I can learn from and be inspired by. In my opinion you are more creative, inspirational and more achievable in putting together an outfit with clothes you have found for a tenner or had for years- how cool is it to find your mum's blazer from the 80's and style it with your new fedora hat and old ripped jeans? Real girls, who actually style their outfits in an affordable fashion? I follow them. I follow blog like yours because I enjoy them; they're fun, laid back and real. Don't ever change being you, I love ♥

  12. This is such a lovely post!! This is a wonderful side to youu :-) it's funny, ppl think bloggers do love attention, but I'm the same way as you-- i hate being the center of attention. Everyone blogs to express different things and for different reasons, but I love that you are trying to be relatable. I hate dry blogs where girls are everything perfect and not one bit real.

    Love this,

  14. I totally understand where you are coming from. I don't mind some of the bloggers who post outfits with higher-end products when they take the time to show cheaper alternatives to the high end stuff. Love the bow!

  19. Love your bow head band and the patterened leggings. I do understand what you mean by being relatable. Though, I think different strokes for different people. Some bloggers ςªŋ afford expensive things so why shouldn't they. If that's their purchasing price point then it is what it is.

  25. Love this outfit and am sad I missed it last week!! You are inspiring both on this blog and in person. I'm pretty sure I would be wearing sweat pants to work if it wasn't for you ;) Okay, that might be stretching it, but I wouldn't be as fashion aware if it wasn't for you.

  26. I definitely agree with everything you said! It's great to find inspiration from people with normal budgets! I can't afford those $400 shoes either! Way to rock the bow headband! Love the color!

  27. LOVE this post! It's crazy how inspiration from one person can change an entire direction of your blog. I followed this girls blog who tried a new outfit everyday without repeating an outfit with every day stores like F21, Old Navy, Target, etc., but because of her "mirror pictures" people were making rude comments and she deleted her blog. :( It made me so mad, cos it shouldn't matter what the pictures look like, just that the outfit inspiration is there. So I'm glad I found your blog for some inspiration :)

  28. Posing for outfit pics really are awkward at first!!

But you do them so well!

I totally agree. If you're not relatable, people won't want to ever stop by your space on the internet!

  33. Ok, let's be best friends!! Seriously. I agree with everything you just said and it's me to a T! I can't afford to shop at places that charge $100 for a t-shirt, I'm a real person on a real income and I can still be totally stylish shopping at all those places you just mentioned. Also, I'm actually a pretty shy person in real life. I don't like to show off and I'm not concieted. It's just a fun outlet and a way to grow my creativity and meet new friends!
Oh, and I have that bow :) LOVE it.
