I found some goodies over the weekend, I was supposed to make a quick stop at H&M but then I moseyed on over to Forever 21 as well. Eeeeks! Sometimes I like to just walk though to see what's new. I know some people are not fans of F21, I totally see why. The majority of their stuff is geared toward a younger crowd and the length and fit of things sometime makes me feel like a giant. I don't think my age group is their number one demographic but my point is, you can still find some good items if you know what to look for. I wanted to share these with you, as I was excited for my finds.

1. Cotton dress with a skull and wings? Yes! I love the rocker-ish look (that's what I'm calling it) perfect with a denim vest or leather vest, see #4 and boots, see #2.
2. Low cowboy-ish boots/boooties. How perfect with a casual dress in the spring or save them for next winter with leggings and layers!
3. Royal blue maxi, a dream come true. This color is perfect. I must say, not a huge fan of the short skirt under the see-thru maxi but whatever, this is what I have to choose from. I can't find solid ones at the moment so I gave this a try and loved it. Plus it will be cooler I suppose.
4. Faux leather motorcycle vest, OBSESSED! This fits so good and it's from forever! I couldn't pass it up. This item will ad to a simple summer dress without being too hot. I already love it!
5. Brown woven shoulder bag. Great for summer, I love the chain detail and that's it's a bit larger than most shoulder bags. It comes in black too.

SPICE UP a simple baby shower gift!

Over the weekend I had a baby shower for one of my friends. I thought I would share the gift I made becuase I love seeing what ideas other people come up with when it comes to gifts. I like to do gifts that have more of my touch versus just buying an item. If I buy an item off the registry, I will at least try to wrap it up all cute! So each time I have a bridal or baby shower, or even birthdays, I like having new ideas to incorporate! Learning to sew is something I have wanted to do for quite some time, so I have been trying to lately. Then only things I have made are pilow cases and baby burp cloths. Both are super easy and in my opinion they are a great way to start sewing! Here is a little tutorial on how I made mine.
First, here is the final prodcut or the basket before I wrapped it up!

Cloth Diapers (prefold premium 6-ply, availabel at Target)
Material of your choice
Sewing maching, thread, scissors, tape measure

Measure out the material so it fits in the center of the clother diaper. They vary from each one so I didn't want ot give measurements. It will cover the center rectangle, make sure you have about a 1/4 of an ench extra room on each side of the rectangle material you have cut.

Lay out the material on top of the cloth diaper, once it looks centered, you can measure the white material on each side to make sure it's centered. Once you have it measure correctly, fold 1/4 of an inch of material under, and pin it. The pins need to be pointing with the pin point going up, follow this all the way around the rectangle, along all edges.

Once everything is pinned, it's time to start sewing it. (I had a friend teach me and she still was helpingme throughout, so if you don't know how to sew, look up another tutorial on how to do that :)) When you feed the material through, you need to push the material up, which is the same way the pin points will be facing, as each peice is being sewn, remove the pin right before it goes under. The pins are used to keep the material secure in a straight line. Right before it feeds under, you will remove it. Do this all the way around.

Ta-da! Here is my finished product! If you look closely, you'll see my seems are not perfect and you can see that I am not a pro, but I'm learning!

That is how you make the home-made burp cloths, I have heard that these are great becuase they are larger and thicker that most store-bought ones. Plus you can customize the fabirc to ones you like, no to mention they are custom and unique!

Here is the rest of the gift for the baby shower. I bought a pack of plain onesies from her registry, took them out of the packaging - tied them up with twine and made a cute paper bow tie for the top.

Foe the front of the basket, I wanted to make a little banner with baby Cade's name on it. I made a simple flag banner with some scrap paper I had, then found a free printable of this grey-wood. Printed that out and glue it all together.

Then I hole-punched the top and fed the twine through the top so I could tie it to each side of the basket bin thing. I have also hot-glued the banner to the gift if it is just a box or bag. Since this bin thing might be re-used for bath toys or in a play room, I wanted the banner to be removeable.

Tied on the front, filling up the basket!

I filled the basket with the basic items that I know every new mom needs, like I said before, I like to add my touch with some thing home-made and cute wrapping to spice it up!

All wrapped up with celo-wrap. Then, I try to have chipboard letters on hand for crafts. I think it's so cute to finish off a gift with an initial. They come grey so I spray painted this one white and now it's finished! (You can also use these chipboard letters for banners (see my bridal show pics) or I also used one on a bridal shower gift and used the frist letter of the bride-to-be's new last name!

I hope this gives you some ideas or inspiration. I love seeing new fun ideas, if you have any, please share!

Happy Monday!
Today I wanted to share a few things that I have recently purchased that I seriously LOVE! I would definitely want someone to recomend these for me to try so that is exactly what I am doing. Alrigth so starting with the Vidal Sassoon one minute repair mask. This stuff is incredible! I have had blonde hair since I was 12 so let me tell you, have tried a ton of deep conditioners and this is up there on the list of favorites. Not to mention this is like $6 at Target. Let this sit for a few minutes after you've shampooed and when you rinse, your hair will be so smooth and feel like silk. It is a miracle product!

Next up is Baby Lips. I might be slow on this band wagon becuase I know this has been out for awhile but it is great! It's hydrating and gives the best color. It's almost like a stain and stay on for a long time. I need to try the other colors. I have the clear which is great for a chastick type product. If any of you guys have tried the other colors, let me know what you think and which colors are your favs!

So that is it for today but I really just wanted to share these with you guys, go try them!
Check back this week becuase I have some great stuff planned on Wednesday with Lauren from Style Elixir and then a surprise on Friday!

This week is starting to feel like spring/summer. It's cool in the morning and then the rest of the day just gets warmer and warmer. We have a spring training game planned for this Saturday and the weather is reporting 90 degrees. I know, I know! 90 already! What?! At least it will be nice and sunny so we can work on getting tan. I am so pale right now, I can wait to soak up some vitamin d! In case you are wondering, spring training is where the cactus league teams train in the spring, hence spring training. It lasts about a month and it is the perfect time to go watch some baseball before the season starts, not to mention we always get lawn seats, on a blanket with friend and sunshine all day. It's one of my most favorite times of the year! If you ever visit AZ March is the perfect month and this is an activity you should book while you are here if you ever visit in May. Oh and the SF Giants stadium is walking distance from my office so ever year my office does a spring training day outing to a game, such a fun tradition!

In other news, apparently my blog was nominated in a local contest called Battle of the Blogs! It's put on by Arizona Foothills Magazine. I had no idea it was even nominated and now I am a little behind but I still thought it would be fun to have my amazing readers go vote! You can vote HERE and the voting is unlimited so if you have time and you would be so kind and vote, that would be much appreciated! Honestly I don't really have a chance to win because some of the blogs already have thousands of votes and I just saw this but just having my blog on the website is a little bit of exposure and every little bit helps!

It's been a little while since I have shared a recipe so I thought this one would be perfect! B was away for the weekend on a boys golf trip and arrived home Sunday afternoon so I thought I should be a good wife and make dinner for us that night. My good friend Carly and I had lots of quality girl time over the weekend, shopping, movie night in, brunch, farmer's market and then a hike. We talked a lot about getting healthy and finding new recipes, learning if you will. I like trying new things and especially if they are healthy and helping out with the toning up for summer! Carly told me about a great recipe during our hike, feta & pesto stuffed chicken. I was sold, plus I already had chicken and feta so I made a quick run for pesto and grabbed so asparagus to go with. This really is about a 15 minute meal (ours was a little longer because the chicken breasts were on the larger side.)

Each serving of the chicken breast is 230 calories and the asparagus is under 40 calories! This is a great healthy meal and is from the weight watchers menu. The flavor is amazing and you'll be feeling totally satisfied after!

What you need:

    4-5oz boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 cup crumbled reduced fat Feta cheese
    2 tablespoons pesto sauce
    1 teaspoon olive oil
    3 tbsp sliced fresh basil

Prepare and cook:

1. To make stuffing, combine feta, pesto and 1/4 teaspoon pepper in a small bowl.
2. Make a pocket in side of each chicken breast by inserting sharp paring knife into thickest part and gently cutting back and forth until a small chamber opens; do not cut all the way through breasts. Enlarge pockets gently with your fingers. Spoon about 2 tablespoons stuffing into each pocket. Close pockets with wooden toothpicks and sprinkle breasts with another 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
3, Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, 6-7 minutes per side. Remove toothpicks and sprinkle breasts with basil. Enjoy!
