Our Baby Girl!

PURE JOY. PURE HAPPINESS. PURE LOVE.

My 20 week ultrasound was schedule for January and this is "the big one" the one where they can tell you the gender and they check every little thing about baby. To say we both were anticipating this appointment was an understatement.
Rewind for a minute. Bryce and I were spending Christmas in Las Vegas with my family so the idea came to me. We could go to one of those ultrasound places at 18 weeks (still a good chance they can tell the gender) and that way my parents and little brother can come and we can all be there together. Of course my Mom loved this idea! Since my mom isn't in Utah, she can't come to any of the little appointments with me so I thought this would be such a fun experience for all of us! Oh and this is my parents very FIRST grandchild.

I found a place called Miracle in Progress and made the appointment for Christmas Eve (day). We all were so excited for this appointment to come. The night before was like Christmas! Knowing that the very next morning we would find out if there was a little girl or boy coming into our lives. The feeling was surreal and just incredible.

The morning finally came and it was time to go find out this exciting news. This place was so great by the way, the room probably would have held 15 people. It was like a theater with couches and a bed in the middle for me to lay on.
Of course the thought of them not being able to tell the gender or having the baby not be turned the correct way crossed my mind. I was hoping the baby cooperated. So we all go in the room and the ultrasound tech was so nice and so excited for us. Bryce even face-timed my best friend so she would watch as the gender was revealed.

Let me rewind again. Prior to this, people kept asking, what do you think you are having? What do you want? Do you hope it's a girl? I honestly had NO CLUE what it was. My answer of course was a healthy baby, I would be so thrilled with either boy or girl. Deep down (being a girl) you kind want a little girl so I think if I HAD to have chosen I would have picked girl. With that being said, I thought there is NO WAY it will be a girl, NO WAY. I think I am getting a boy first. There was just something that made me feel more like it wasn't going to be a girl first, that I would get my girl, just not yet.

Back to the appointment. The tech started looking around and showing us what was what and what baby was doing. We saw the head and legs and lots of moving around. Then she confirmed that we wanted to find out the gender and we all said "YES!" Then within seconds it was clear as day there were two legs and nothing going on in between! It was a GIRL!!!

Bryce was holding my hand and leaned in an kissed me, and said he was so happy. I was so happy, I was just so so so happy and excited and in this state of almost shock. We were going to have a daughter. Ahhhh. Love the sound of that.

Later that night (Christmas Eve) as we were getting ready for bed after such a big day, I came in and sat by Bryce. I immediately started balling, the tears were just flowing. Bryce was concerned and curious and finally the words came out. "I am just so happy," I said. It was like I had so many emotions built up inside of me and I had to let out those tears of pure, genuine happiness. I felt SO blessed. To be able to have such a wonderful husband, amazing parents and little brother surrounding me and then this little baby girl coming into our life. It was incredible. People say you never know true love, this kind of love until you have a child but it's so true. I haven't even met her but the love I have for her is unreal. This is what life is all about, these moments.

First outfit post with the little bump!

You guys... I finally did it... An outfit post! Geez it too forever to get this post up!
This is one of my favorite looks though, I remember seeing prego bloggers style the cutest outfits with a  button up shirt tied above the bump. I think it just looks so cute! It definitely shows off the bump though and focuses on it, which I was OK with. ;)
I can't wait to create more looks that hopefully give you inspiration!
Outfit details are below!

Dallas Weekend.

Last weekend I made the trip to Dallas to visit one of my very best girlfriends Angela. She moved out there almost 3 years ago and this is the first time I made it out there! It was long overdue! When she first moved, that was when B was first moving to Phoenix, then was our wedding then we moved so the past few years have been super busy. Needless to say it was about time to get to Dallas!

The other exciting part of my trip was that one of my other very best friends was also going to be in Dallas that weekend as well. So the 3 of us were reunited and had a great time. We got to meet Angela's friends and see her new life and home and world there in Dallas. It actually reminded me a lot of Phoenix, very spread out and very flat. Phoenix has more green, mountains and palm trees actually. But over all it felt like a similiar city.

We tired so great restaurants when I was there and stayed very busy, we did some shopping and normal weekend girl time activities. There was a great accessory store that we all found a ton of stuff at so that was really fun to stock up!

It was so nice to have this time with the girls and especially since the next time I see them, I'll be a mama and will have a little one. It's so crazy to think! I can't wait for both of them to come visit us in SLC when the baby comes and the house is done, it's exicing!

Here are a few pics from the weekend!

21 Weeks! And a story to think about.

It's funny how many people want to follow along and seem more interested when you are pregnant. I guess it's just one of those beautiful things. I have lots of new instragram followers and I think most of them are soon to be mama's as well. It's a way to relate and see people in your same situation going through the same experience. Anyway I love it and I love the new people who are following along. I admit I like to follow prego women too, just to see their bump grow as well.

For those of you that might not be as interested now that my blog will be focusing a lot more on being pregnant and those updates, I apologize. I want to keep the progress documented, how I look and feel, watch the belly grow and remember all the little things through out this incredible experience.
I will be posting all about my trip to Dallas and our fun girls weekend last this week but for now I wanted to just say how crazy it is to start feeling those protective mother instincts. For instance, I was on my way there, just getting ready to take off and as the plane began to enter the air and I couldn't help but thing to myself "it's OK baby", just wanting to reassure the baby that the weird flying feelings were fine. I was hoping the baby wasn't feeling different or noticing being way up in the air with the turbulence. It was me wanting to protect, it was me feeling responsible for this life and making sure everything was OK.
I'm sure emotions like this will continue to happens as time goes on but becoming a Mom is definitely going to change me, it will add so much to what I already am and I can't wait to experience all those feelings for a new life.

While I am on the topic of emotions, you have to read this. So on the flight home I am sitting in the window spot with a little boy in the middle and his mom in the aisle. The boy is about 3 and then his big sister who was about 6 and her Dad were sitting right behind us. He was so excited to be on this plane ride, I later found out it was his first time on a plane. He was looking out the window and asking a ton of questions. He wanted to know when we were going to fly. It was so cute to see this experience through his eyes. His mom started talking to me about Utah and asking if I was from there, they were visiting and I think she was looking for fun activities. Long story short, she revealed that they were on this journey to SLC for their Dad's Cancer treatment. For whatever reason, they had to come to a specific treatment center in SLC. The couple decided to take the kids along on this trip and make a vacation out of it.The kids we so excited to be able to play in the snow!

The whole reason I am sharing this story is because you truly never know what other people are going through in their life. Little did I know this family is dealing with a terrible illness and I would guess these parents hadn't disclosed this information to their young children. In the eyes of the children, they were simply going on a vacation to play in the snow.
Thinking about it later it really made me think about how blessed we are for all the people in our life and the health that we have. I hope this at least just makes you thankful for what you have and it's so true, you never know what kind of battles people are facing.

20 Weeks!

I can hardly believe I am half way there! It has gone by so quickly this far. I am so thankful that I have felt good since day one, I guess each and every person is just different and everyone handles it differently. My mom said she never had any morning sickness so it's possible that it's hereditary? All I can say is this little one has been so good to me, I couldn't ask for a better pregnancy. This week and last, have really marked some big changes, mainly the belly growing. It just all of a sudden was there! I can feel the movements a lot more frequently and Bryce was able to feel a little moving the other day. It was so exciting! He just smiles and says "Is it weird?" I think it is so amazing and I love feeling the moving, I think it just reassures me that all is good in there.
I think I might be to the point of fully preferring maternity pants now or strictly leggings. Today I wore a pencil skirt to work and its one that always had a little extra room, but today it is snug. I think this skirt is retiring for a while after today.

I did want to share that I have found some great maternity items at Old Navy and Gap so if any of you are looking for stuff, check there! I found these cute red cordoroy skinny pants as well as a grey and white stripped dress all on sale for a smoking deal. I can just start my maternity collection and then hang on to it as I hope there are more kiddos for us down the road.

If any of you have any great maternity stores to tell me about, I would love to know! Any secret spots that have great items? I have gotten a couple things at H&M as well as Target but I am open for more suggestions.

I am about to travel tomorrow to Dallas to visit one of my very best friends in her new hometown, she had lived there for a couple years but this is the first time I have made it out there for a visit so I am super excited to have a weekend of girl time. One of my other best friends will also be there the same weekend so I got a 2 for 1 and I am so excited!

Well, that is about all I have but I wanted to just post a quick little update on the belly!

Outfit Inspiration for the bump!

So now that I will need to be making style choices that include this little growing belly, I thought I would get some inspiration from some of my favorite bloggers. Oh and if you have not visited these blogs previously, take some time and look around they all have such great style and many more maternity looks to give you ideas! These are just a few of my favorites!

I think the best way to style your body when pregnant is to of course remain true to yourself and your personal style but also, EMBRACE the bump and focus on it. There is nothing worse than not being able to tell if someone has a baby bump or not. The way I look at it is this is such a great experience so why not flaunt it and love it and totally embrace what your body is doing.

All of these looks are pretty much layered and tend to be more fall focused which is perfect for me and the timing right now, it's FREEZING here so there are no summer dresses in the cards for me right now. However when May hits and it actually warms up, I might have to do another one of these inspirations boards for summer looks.

My next challenge is to start doing OOTD posts again but this time styling something cute that looks good with the belly that is starting to show. It will fun but definitely a challenge. I want to be a good resource for new mama's-to-be, I want to help you find cute looks or give you good ideas. Oh and if there are any key wardrobe items that you couldn't live without during pregnancy, please share!

THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

Happy New Year, Everyone!
I hope your year is off to a great start! Well, it's true we have been keeping quite the secret for the past few months! We are expecting a little one! I honestly can't even believe our time has come. I have so many wonderful emotions and have been so excited to share the news. If you are a frequent reader, you know I have been so terrible about blogging lately. Blogging is something I wanted to do for myself as my own little journal for me and my family and friends. I love looking back on things and remembering how I was feeling and what was going on according to me via this blog. So since this is our FIRST baby and my FIRST experience with this wonderful thing called pregnancy, I really want to document as much as possible. From here on out there will be a lot more posting and of course pre go outfits. :)

Some basic questions to get out of the way:

When did you find out you were pregnant? I took the test on a Sunday, it was Sept 22nd and it was the best day ever.
How did you feel the moment you found out you were pregnant? I felt so excited and emotional. Bryce's reaction was priceless, it was one of the best moments of my life.
Who was the first person you told and their reactions? We told my parents first and they were so happy and surprised! They couldn't believe it and were genuinely so happy.
How far along? 19 weeks
Baby size: Baby is the size of a heirloom tomato
Maternity clothes? Nope, just maternity tights since that is the majority of my winter wardrobe. I just started using the hair tie in the loop of my jeans though! :) Gives me a little extra room.
Stretch marks? None and my mom didn't get them so I am hoping to be as lucky as her.
Sleep? With my work schedule being earlier, I am waking up earlier and going to bed much earlier. I am no fun to stay up and watch shows with anymore! Poor Bryce, I'm in bed at like 8:30 watching Netflix.
Best moment this week? I am excited to start blogging about the pregnancy. It has flown by so far and I want to remember how I was feeling and takes pics. I have pictures from 16 weeks on so I will start sharing them!
Looking forward to? Tomorrow, it's our big 20 week ultrasound. I am also looking forward to feeling baby move around, so far I haven't felt anything yet.
What I miss: I'm missing a good ole turkey sandwich!
Movement: Not yet, I hope any day!
Food cravings: No crazy cravings, mainly just wanting fruits and veggies, seriously though my body is wanting lots of fruit. I am ok with it because over the holiday I have eaten so terrible!
Anything making you queasy or sick? Not at all, I just feel like my sense of smell is heightened in general.
Mood: I am so excited and just overwhelmed with this miracle. I am so thankful for my health and feeling good. Bryce has been so helpful and is taking care of me. We both are just on cloud 9.
Nursery: I haven't bought anything yet! It's overwhelming to think how much I need to buy in the next 5 months! However, we found out our house will be done mid April so now that we know that part, I can start shopping for the nursery and more baby stuff.
Workouts: ZERO! That's right nothing at all! lol I did run a 5k on Thanksgiving and have ran a couple of times but there in no workout routine in place and it needs to start happening!

I thought this little questionnaire was fun and it encompasses a lot of questions.  I can't wait to share more with you and if you have any great advice, please share :)
